Buffalo Picture House - iJukebox Commercial Posted on 14 Oct 2011

I was recently contacted by Buffalo Picture House, a film production company based in New York City, to create the illustrations for their animated commercial for the mobile app iJukebox. While I've worked on several animation-based projects since, this was my first time doing production art for video use, and I learned quite a bit in the process. Fortunately my inexperience was no match for the awe-inspiring talent and amiability of the Buffalo Picture House team, and the commercial turned out fantastic!
A couple stills from the video: a bored date (surely the bad music can't be the only problem?) and a sample of the interface.

Doing work for animation purposes has made me rethink my artistic process somewhat. While I haven't gone so far as to draw each element of my static pieces separately, it's certainly something to consider in the sketch stages; often small changes can give a composition focus and energy that it would have lacked otherwise, and it's great to have the ability to experiment with different layouts early on in the process.
Check out the video (one of many in Buffalo Picture House's extensive catalog of wonders) HERE.
